Wait Wait!
A few friends and I went to the free taping of the NPR show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” last night in Millennium Park. My jaw hurt from laughing so hard. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, looking very shy and intimidated by the huge crowd, was the guest for the “Not My Job” segment of the show. Best line:
Peter Sagal: So, you like Chicago?
Patrick Fitzgerald: Yes.
PS: You live on the north side of the city, right?
PF: Yes.
PS: And you work downtown?
PF: Yes.
PS: How do you feel about commuting?

And now I’m off to hunt for apartments. Wish me luck!

current book: OH MY GOD HARRY POTTER COMES OUT TOMORROW! I’m exercising tremendous restraint by waiting until after my morning run to pick it up. Considering I start a new job on Monday, staying up all night reading it seemed like kind of a bad decision.
current music: Spoon, Girls Can Tell; The New Pornographers, Twin Cinema.
current socks: Ooooh, wait till you see the picture of my pedicure. There are garish white flowers on my big toes. I feel like a tweenager. And I love it.

I’m jealous of you attending the Wait, Wait… Don’t tell me! taping. I do hope to one day have Carl’s voice on my home answering machine.
i just put a sign on the front door reminding the ups/fedex/usps/mailowl to leave packages nomatter what, even though they totally already do that. i don’t want to take any chances is all i’m saying.
i’m so excited for harry potter to arrive! although nana is in town & josh’s brother & family are coming over today & my mom is stopping by at some point & emmit is more needy than usual as he heals from his eye surgery, i might have to sneak away & hide to read. selfish selfish mama. but, the fate of the wizarding world is at stake, right?
good gravy, i’m even fighting the urge to have my morning coffee on the front porch.
I have a small crush on Patrick Fitzgerald.
